Job Description

The Range Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for the safety of all Peacemaker commercial customers and staff. RSO's shall possess extensive knowledge about the operation of firearms of all types and may be called upon to offer assistance for shooters using the lanes. Primary duty is to organize, conduct and supervise safe shooting activities and range operations. The RSO will provide range orientation for new members. RSO's will ensure that the entire facility and all operations are maintained at the highest standards. RSO duties may include:

• Ensure strict adherence to Safety Operations Guide (SOG) for Range at all time.
• Monitor activity on the shooting lanes at all times.
• Assist customers with appropriate lane and target operation.
• Promote and smoothly execute instructional programs and shooting events.
• Know and follow all Range plans, programs and policies.
• Operate Range POS software.
• Keep Range sanitary, clean and neat.
• Perform all computer functions as assigned.
• Maintain productive relationships with established customers.
• Attend training as required.
• Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with everyone.
• Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must make sound decisions and judgment calls concerning any safety matter.
• Special projects as assigned.

• Duty hours may vary.
• Must be willing to work in a variety of environments, including office/classrooms, outdoor shooting ranges, outdoor training facilities, etc.
• Must meet requirements set forth by the Lautenberg Amendment.

Qualifications:

• Speak, read, and write English
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience as a Range Safety Officer preferred, or equivalent combination of training and related experience in US Military or Law Enforcement required.
• Proficiency with MS Office required.
• Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
• Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
• Able to qualify with all applicable firearms and meet minimum passing scores as established by the Director of Training.
• Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
• Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Specific vision required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
