What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a skilled and highly motivated CNC Programmer/Machinist to provide engineering teams across the organization with testing fixtures for prototype components. Through your efforts, you will enhance design from conceptualization thru product validation, while shortening the design/build/test process. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop valuable technical skills through on-the-job training. Our ideal candidate is eager to learn, self-driven, detail oriented and has a history of success working as a team.


What You'll Do
  • Program and setup 3-axis & 5-axis CNC Mills (Haas)
  • Work closely with engineering teams to provide crucial input on design for manufacturability
  • Open communication with engineers, management, and other team members
  • Design fixtures and tooling to setup complex machining operations for experimental parts

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of multi axis programming
  • Proficiency in high-speed machining and tool path optimization as well as understanding of speeds and feeds, ability to edit G & M code from CNC controller
  • Ability to program and machine complex and high tolerance components
  • Experience cutting a wide range of materials Aluminum, Plastics, Titanium, Copper, Brass, SST, 303, 304, 316, 440, 416, 1018, Tool steel
  • Passionate about prototyping and machining with ability to thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment with tight deadlines. As well as flexibility to work long hours when needed
  • Works well in a dynamic team environment with minimal supervision
  • CAM programming with Solidworks/Mastercam (preferred)
  • Solidworks or CATIA proficiency, as well as Esprit Programming (preferred)
  • Machine maintenance knowledge (preferred)
  • Large format CNC machining and ability to use manual machines such as mills, lathes, grinders (preferred)

    Expected Compensation
    $27.92 - $58.20/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
