Division of Applied Social Sciences Job Description
This position provides administrative and program support to the Financial Research Institute (FRI) and the Center for Rural Energy Security (CRES). FRI hosts symposia, webinars, and executive education programs related to regulated public utilities, and conducts/supports academic research and graduate education on energy and energy-related policy issues. CRES is a new Center at the University that conducts research on energy policy with specific focus on the implications for rural communities, agriculture, and rural economic development, and engages in education and outreach to elected officials, policymakers, industry, and the general public. The Program Support Coordinator reports to FRI's Associate Director of Programs and also works with the faculty leaders of FRI and CRES to provide communications, program planning, and fiscal support for both Centers. This position does not supervise any staff positions but does coordinate responsibilities with other Division of Applied Social Sciences and campus resource staff and assists with hiring undergraduate students and special event staff as needed. Specific duties and responsibilities include: Supporting the Centers' mass communications and social media presences consistent with the Centers' strategic communications plans, including maintaining contacts databases, developing graphics, and tracking communications across platforms. Provide support for the Centers' programs, including registration setup and tracking. Arranging travel for the Centers' leadership, staff, event speakers, and special guests; processing expenses reports, vendor payments, and contracts for vendor services. Assist in invoicing, receiving, and timely processing of donor gifts, sponsorships, and event registration fees. Composing, revising, and editing routine correspondence, reports, and manuscripts to ensure effective communication with multiple audiences. General administrative support for office operations. May be required to travel and attend industry related events to enhance the visibility of the FRI. As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri. Shift
Monday - Friday; 7:30-4:30 or 8:00-5:00 Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, communications, journalism, education, or related field preferred. Two years of experience in a related role. Familiarity with University of Missouri policies, procedures, and systems is strongly preferred. Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are essential. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, execute with a high attention to detail, and consistently perform to high standards. The capability to work effectively with high-net-worth business leaders and public officials is essential. A high level of energy and enthusiasm is necessary for position success. Professionalism must characterize all aspects of his or her performance. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, thorough knowledge of grammar with excellent proof reading and editing skills. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and Adobe Creative Suite strongly desired but not required. Familiarity with various social media platforms (e.g., X, LinkedIn, Facebook) and managing a professional social media presence. Other important characteristics include a strong work ethic, personal integrity, emotional intelligence, strategic thinking and planning skills, and a commitment to the missions of CRES and FRI. Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.87-$26.87 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements. The Financial Research Institute (FRI) is a nationally recognized education partner of the National Association of Regulated Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and industry organizations in the electricity, natural gas, and water utility industries; and a Program of Distinction in MU's College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources.
