Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a paralegal to support our nationally-recognized public finance lawyers who represent governmental entities, investment banks, financial institutions, trustees, and borrowers, including 501(c)(3) organizations in virtually every type of municipal/public finance transaction. This position is located in Minneapolis and offers a work schedule of 3-4 days a week in the office with a dynamic Minneapolis-based public finance team that currently includes 4 lawyers and two paralegals. The candidate would also support our top-tier national public finance team of over 50 professionals.

Your Role:

As a Paralegal within our Public Finance team, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with lawyers on the preparation of documentation for municipal bond offerings/borrowings, including drafting documents and opinion letters; organizing, proofreading and assembling documents; and coordinating closing logistics.

  • Conducting due-diligence; gathering and organizing financial data related to bond issuers and borrowers from public sources.

  • Preparing and filing of UCC Financing Statements; researching industry databases, publicly-available information from local governments and other sources, and assisting lawyers with reviewing the applicable law.

Required Experience:

Minimum requirements include prior work experience with financial or real estate transactions; intermediate level of technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel); and strong basic mathematical skills. Basic understanding of financial statements and experience with document management systems would be very helpful. Must be able to work overtime, as needed. Candidates with experience in other practice areas or whose experience and skills are closely related to this position will be considered. Prior work experience in the public finance industry is desirable.

The salary range for this position is from $65,000 - $75,000, which reflects the Firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will depend on several factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.
