Job Summary
#CA-DS This position supports the Department of Budget Planning & Analysis. This position is responsible for specific components of the UC Davis Health (UC Davis Medical Center and Schools of Health) annual budgets, monthly financial processes in collaboration with General Accounting, financial analysis, cost reductions, and process improvements. The position of Financial Analyst 3 will be involved in financial analysis and budget variance analysis. Position requires strong analytical skills, strong communication skills, and ability to work with people of all skill levels. - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, related field or equivalent experience and training
- Several years of experience in budgeting, accounting, or finance related field.
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to develop executive summaries as well as detailed financial and statistical reports.
- Experience in the design of report formats, extraction of data, and development of financial and statistical reports.
- Ability to interpret various Financial Reports including Income Statements, Labor Reports, and other General Ledger reports
- Experience with reporting systems such as EPSi, Oracle, Axiom, Strata Jazz, Tableau, and Power BI.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 -5 Years of experience in budgeting, accounting, or finance related field.
- Ability to analyze, sort and accurately report on large volumes of data in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently, taking responsibility for projects with input on objectives, with minimal direct supervision.
- Professional level of experience with analytical, statistical, and mathematical skills to conduct complex quantitative analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate both orally and in writing in a professional, tactful, and effective manner with a broad range of individual styles and managerial levels.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities and produce a high-quality product, while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex or unique questions.
- Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work effectively in teams.
- Shows respect for institutional policies, procedures, systems, and relationships.

Department Overview The Department of Budget Planning and Analysis operates under the CFO and provides the Annual Budgets, Monthly Financial Reports and Variance Analysis, volume forecasts and revenue modeling, and labor modeling and reporting to UC Davis Health key stakeholders. Department Specific Job Scope Involves developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning for FTE and dollars, and control of organizational budgets for both the Medical Center and School of Medicine. May analyze and prepare recommendations for financial plans, including annual resource allocations, future requirements, and volume forecasts. POSITION INFORMATION
