Job Description
We're looking for a hands-on Build & Release Engineer to design, maintain, and improve our software delivery pipeline across a growing portfolio of programs. This role blends traditional configuration management with modern DevOps practices-owning everything from source control to container orchestration. You'll work closely with development teams to ensure that builds, environments, and releases are reliable, repeatable, and efficient.

We need someone who thrives in Linux, understands Kubernetes beyond the basics, and can architect containerized solutions from scratch. Your expertise will shape that next phase of our DevOps infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and improve the end-to-end build, integration, and release processes across multiple programs.
  • Design, configure, and maintain source control (Git), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI), and automated build systems.
  • Build and maintain containerized environments on Linux VMs using Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes (k3s or similar).
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux (command-line proficiency required) and Windows build/release environments.
  • Stand up and maintain virtualized infrastructure in VMware vSphere/ESXi environments.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate builds, resolve environment issues, and ensure smooth releases in an Agile framework.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including environment setup guides and deployment procedures for internal teams and customers.
  • Support environment automation using tools like Ansible, Vagrant, or similar.
  • Manage release packaging, license tracking, and configuration baselines for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Government Security Clearance.
  • 2+ years of experience in software configuration management, build/release engineering, or DevSecOps, with hands-on expertise using Continuous Integration tools.
  • Experience designing and deploying containerized solutions in Kubernetes.
  • Strong Linux administration and command-line scripting skills.
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi) and automation tools (Ansible, Vagrant, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience building Kubernetes clusters from scratch in constrained or edge environments.
  • Familiarity with container registries, image hardening, and secure deployment practices.
  • Knowledge of Agile and DevOps best practices at both the team and program level.
  • Prior experience mentoring developers or operations staff on CI/CD, automation, or containerization.
