~ Per Diem / As Needed Position / Day shift ~

Maine state licensure to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LADC) or Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) is required

MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital Behavioral Healthprovides comprehensive behavioral health services and substance use disorder treatment. Inpatient services are available for patients 18 years of age and older. Patients receive acute psychiatric care and substance use disorder treatment in a secure, hospital unit.

Our experienced, multidisciplinary team includes physicians, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, CNAs, social workers, mental health workers, registered occupational therapists, certified occupational therapist assistants and licensed substance abuse counselors.

Summary

The Substance Use Counselor role provides assessment, consultation and care planning to inpatients.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Education appropriate for licensure required.
  2. License/Certifications: Active State Licensure for Substance Abuse Counseling or LCPC/LCSW/CADC/LADC with approved substance abuse CEU's required. Must complete MANDT course within six months of start date.
  3. Experience: Recent experience in an acute Behavioral Health care setting preferred
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Experience with clinical methods and techniques used in individual, family and group therapy related to mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A
