Outside Sales Representative - Utility Sector

We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Outside Sales Representative to grow our business within the utility sector. This role involves prospecting, building relationships with utility companies, and providing product solutions that support utility operations and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the utility market, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to close deals.



  • Foster relationships within utility organizations
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships to generate profitable sales
  • Drive new business by seeking out opportunities with new and existing customers
  • Focus on transformer sales and repair, field service offerings and surplus buying to increase our inventory
  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan to meet or exceed assigned revenue targets
  • Set strategies for both short term victories and longer-term positioning
  • Preparation of quotations and entering orders per customer specifications
  • Review quotations and follow up to close business
  • Attend regional and national trade shows and networking events, as necessary
  • Plan and schedule customer site visits
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, operations, customer service) to ensure high-quality service and timely delivery
  • Track sales activity using CRM software and provide regular reports to management
  • Other duties as assigned
  • 3-5 years B2B sales experience in electrical utility industry preferred.
  • Cooperative attitude towards all internal and external customers.
  • A dependable and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to learn other areas sufficient to fill in where required.
  • Strong knowledge of utility industry products, standards, and procurement processes.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a field-based environment.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
  • Experience working with public or private utilities, municipalities, or EPC firms.
  • Knowledge of utility infrastructure products such as transformers, conductors, poles, enclosures, or smart grid technology.
