The Opportunity

Marvell's Optical and Copper Connectivity Business Unit is the industry leading provider of infrastructure solutions to enterprise, data center, service providers, small business, and digital home customers. The Ethernet PHY applications team is a key part of Optical and Copper Connectivity Business Unit that drives key design wins for 1-Gigabit, Multi-Gigabit, 10-Gigabit, up to 400-Gigabit Ethernet PHY products.

We are looking for a customer facing passionate, experienced, hands-on engineer to bring us to greater heights. If you are an individual who is confident in his technical abilities and leads by example, we are looking for you. Our Application Engineers expected to have knowledge of SW programming and HW fundamentals as well as the curiosity and persistence to take on interesting and challenging issues on a daily basis.

What You Can Expect

  • Review customer schematics and layout.
  • Perform hands-on bring-up and debug of customer boards.
  • Closely follow and check customer technical issues and provide remote or on-site troubleshooting.
  • Support customer lab/field trial, understand customer application environment, and provide insightful advice on customer products.
  • Support firmware and systems engineering team in the collective effort of device and system level testing as requested by customers.
  • Provide technical training to Marvell Sales Engineers, Distributor Field Applications Engineers, and key customers on Marvell PHY products.
  • Work cross functionality with silicon development, system validation, and marketing team to define next generation products and solutions.
  • Develop technical collateral material including application notes, user guide/manual, release notes, white papers, and other technical documents.
  • Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
  • Assist sales team through preparation and delivery of technical presentations and statements of work by matching specific client business requirements with effective technical solutions.
  • Create relationships with key decision makers and serve as external technical spokesperson.
  • Drive and assist the sales team to win key designs with Marvell PHYs.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and 5 years or more of related professional experience.
  • Familiarity with high-speed PCB layout, signal integrity, board assembly, and manufacturing.
  • Experience in using lab equipment including high speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic/protocol analyzers, and traffic generators.
  • Strong ability to influence with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate efficiently (written and verbal) in a multicultural environment.
  • Must be professional, detailed, customer-oriented, self-driven and able to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of C/C++, API, Python/TCL scripting and automation preferred.
  • Knowledge of complex mixed signal IC, SerDes, high-speed interface protocols and standards are preferred.
  • Pre-sale and marketing experience - Advantage.
  • System/Architecture experience - Advantage.
  • Domestic and international travel to customer sites.

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

121,400 - 181,800, $ per annum

The successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
