Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center

Job Description

The research team uses rat models of spinal cord injury (SCI) to study autonomic dysfunction, particularly cardiovascular and bladder disorders. Our research employs a wide range of neuroscience, cardiovascular, and urological techniques, including SCI models, physiological recordings, neural tract tracing, cell transplantation, rehabilitation, pharmacological interventions, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and histology. The candidate should have strong interests in autonomic neuroscience and experience in working with rodents, and is able to work independently, highly motivated, and enthusiastic. He/she will mainly work on electrophysiological recordings and data analysis, particularly in sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve recordings, and physiological cardiovascular recordings in SCI rats and other relevant rat models. This work will contribute to manuscript writing, grant preparation, and student and technician mentorship.
Duties include:
- Sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve recordings and data analysis in rats;
- Cardiovascular physiological recordings and data analysis in rats;
- Rat surgery to implant catheters, microinjections of drugs, post-operative care to be in compliance with ACUC.
- Behavioral tests, histological tissue processing and analysis

Shift

Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with electrophysiology in rodents is required. The candidate should be capable of independent research that involves cardiovascular physiological and nerve recordings. Individuals with a master's degree in physiology, anatomy, neuroscience or related areas are encouraged to apply. Salary will be commensurate with the experience and skills of the applicant.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $83,408 per year
Grade: GGS-9E
