Job Overview

The Senior Director, Regional Asset Protection at Macy's, Inc. is a visionary leader responsible for driving the strategic vision and execution of the Asset Protection program. They oversee Division Leaders and Senior Investigators, leading the nationwide implementation of asset protection and shortage reduction initiatives. The role involves directing investigations, developing strategies in assigned markets, and collaborating with Store and Central Support partners. Key responsibilities include coaching and supporting the Asset Protection team alongside store leadership.

The Senior Director facilitates the connection between Field and Central Asset Protection for process improvement. They recruit executive talent for retention and career development and play a pivotal role in shaping the Central Asset Protection communications strategy. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to Macy's, Inc. by safeguarding assets and minimizing losses through strategic leadership and collaboration.

For regional positions, colleagues may reside anywhere within the new region boundaries; the Central Region includes the sates of Illinois, Texas, and Georgia.

What You Will Do



  • Lead a team of Divisional Directors of Asset Protection and Senior Investigators to ensure the nationwide implementation of asset protection and shortage reduction strategies. Identify factors impacting business, shortage, and profitability, providing effective solutions.
  • Oversee Senior Investigators and their training through Asset Protection Market Leaders for the management and execution of criminal investigations.
  • Develop investigative strategies within assigned markets and coordinate these efforts with Store and Central Support partners.
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors of Stores (RDOS), Regional Operations leaders (ROPS), and Division Vice Presidents (DVP's) to coach, educate, and support Asset Protection priorities and the team.
  • Establish a connection between Field Asset Protection and Central Asset Protection to continually enhance processes and results.
  • Recruit and develop executive talent by fostering a culture that values retention, career development, and succession planning.
  • Develop the vision and execution of the Central Asset Protection communications strategy. This includes weekly communication to store leadership and the Asset Protection team, driving a shortage culture through all communication channels.
  • Stay abreast of industry regulations and compliance standards related to Asset Protection. Ensure that the program aligns with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Foster relationships with law enforcement agencies to facilitate cooperation in criminal investigations and enhance overall security measures.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of Asset Protection initiatives. Regularly analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in Asset Protection and loss prevention. Encourage and support the continuous learning and development of the Asset Protection team.

Collaboration and Relationship Building: Exceptional collaboration skills to foster strong partnerships with Market Leaders, Store and Central Support partners, Regional Directors of Stores, Regional Operations leaders, Division Vice Presidents, and law enforcement agencies.

Talent Management and Development: Ability to recruit and develop executive talent, creating a culture that values retention, career development, and succession planning.

Communication and Influence: Effective communication skills to shape and execute the Central Asset Protection communications strategy, driving a shortage culture through regular and impactful communication with store leadership and the Asset Protection team.

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 10+ years of Asset Protection leadership experience required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
