Engineering Solutions Development Manager - Plymouth, MN - Hybrid

Daikin Applied is seeking an Engineering Solutions Development Manager who provide leadership for the team developing HVAC system-level on-premises and cloud-based system products. The offerings being developed by this team involve cloud connectivity, analytics, field controls, area controls, and building management systems. Location: Hybrid, Plymouth, MN

What you will do:



  • Be responsible for coordinating the activities of the Americas regional applied solutions development team with other global and regional groups
  • Manage regional development, help select and integrate third-party products, ensure products meet the defined customer requirements of teams are being met, and ensure compliance with internal processes
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team
  • Evaluate design decisions and work collaboratively across multiple teams
  • Provide excellent communication and organizational skills within a team environment
  • Work with the team to maintain high productivity and low turnover
  • Work closely with development and project teams to plan and track work
  • Define, track, and report Key Performance Indicators
  • Define, track, and report on the group budget
  • Collaborate with the business team to develop roadmaps for future product work, including the required resources
  • Advise management of anything that may affect schedule, costs, or inter-departmental relations
  • Develop training and succession plans for the group
  • Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience, leading diverse teams
  • 2+ years working in an Agile development environment
  • Experience in product development involving embedded systems
  • Experience in cloud-based product development
  • Experience in implementing communications protocols
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical literature and safety standards, operating and maintenance instructions, and engineering drawings
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional employees in the organization, including remote employees in other countries
  • Ability to apply basic engineering principles to solve problems
  • Able to collect and report data and use data to drive decision making
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Understanding of/experience with HVAC systems
  • Experience integrating with third-party products
  • Experience working with global development projects
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Experience with requirements management
  • Control theory
  • Experience leading the development of products with cyber security requirements
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience leading Agile teams

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300 - $150,300 plus a 15% bonus in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
