Safety Operations Manager

The Safety Operations Manager position is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of employees across four site locations within Mopar at the Center Line Complex and the Warren/Sherwood Complex. This position will be responsible for implementation of safety standards at Center Line PDC, Center Line Packaging, Warren and Sherwood PDC's. In addition, this position serves as the key advisor to Mopar site management on the implementation and management of health and safety initiatives designed to promote and achieve compliance and continuous improvement in SPDS. The Safety Coordinator will report to the Center Line PDC Manager.

The job responsibilities include, and are not limited to the following:



  • Oversee root cause analysis of safety and environmental incidents/accidents and facilitate implementation of corrective action measures.
  • Work jointly with the site UAW Safety Representative, UAW Trainer and other key Union and Management members to ensure timely reporting and resolution to safety concerns/issues
  • Support compliance related audits and activities (S58, PIV, Lockout, Confined Space, SMI updates to the LJHSC and senior staff)
  • Direct and implement wellbeing, health and safety processes designed to improve key performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance to federal, state and local regulations, and Corporate Policies and Procedures including OSHA, SMI's etc
  • Support the implementation of the Wellbeing, Health and Safety Domain under Mopar SPDS
  • Direct and implement standardized WHS assessments and programs to address needed training
  • Audit WHS processes and provide necessary follow up to ensure compliance
  • Support the implementation/integration of ergonomic processes within the four site locations
  • Manage the timely submission of documentation, reports, inventories and surveys to appropriate internal and external partners
  • Coordinate communication of Mopar WHS regarding regulatory activity and ensure communication with plant and corporate leadership in maintained
  • Support all shifts directly and indirectly and work additional hours as required
  • Involved in new, relocated, or modified equipment reviews and follow up as required

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Science, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of Safety, Engineering, or related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding and application of federal, state, provincial and local environmental and safety regulations and requirements
  • Effective written and verbal communication, excellent presentation skills
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and /or other software applications
