Essential Responsibilities
Safety Leadership & Compliance - Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to internal safety standards, client-specific safety policies, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
- Conduct regular job site inspections and audits; identify hazards and enforce corrective actions.
- Investigate and document all incidents, near misses, and injuries. Lead complex root cause analyses and maintain comprehensive incident records.
- Provide direction and on-site support to supervisors and technicians regarding safety expectations, PPE compliance, and safe work practices.
- Conduct and/or assist with monthly safety meetings, job safety analyses (JSAs), field evaluations, and training sessions.
Maintenance & Operational Support - Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure safety is embedded into preventive maintenance and repair processes.
- Track, log, and report maintenance activities related to safety-critical systems and equipment.
- Assist in the scheduling and execution of LOTO verifications, equipment inspections, and vehicle condition audits.
- Support vehicle inspections to ensure operational condition and required safety equipment availability.
Training & Documentation - Support district and corporate training programs for safety and technical skills; ensure compliance with training schedules and documentation requirements.
- Deliver Smith System driver training as needed and maintain associated records.
- Maintain and update safety manuals, QA references, and training materials for the facility.
- Complete and maintain OSHA logs.
6S & Continuous Improvement Initiatives - Drive 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) initiatives across the facility.
- Lead safety and housekeeping audits and develop improvement action plans.
- Champion small-scale Kaizen efforts to eliminate waste and improve organization, ergonomics, and hazard reduction.
- Participate in cross-functional teams focused on improving workplace layout, material flow, and visual management tools.
Communication & Reporting - Provide safety performance updates to management and clients as needed.
- Submit timely reports, audit summaries, training logs, and injury/incident metrics to district leadership and corporate EHS teams.
- Monitor PPE supply levels and coordinate with purchasing to ensure availability of approved protective equipment.

Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related EHS discipline preferred (Bachelor's ideal).
- 3-5 years of experience in a safety-related role in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour certification required; additional certifications (e.g., HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, DOT, RCRA) preferred.
- Experience with maintenance or operations in a field environment strongly desired.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, EPA, and related regulatory bodies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CMMS and safety reporting tools a plus.
