The Cingari Family Boutique at Smilow Cancer Hospital offers services and support to meet the special needs of people with cancer. More specifically, the boutique's qualified clinicians supply patients with medical equipment to explicitly fit the needs of the cancer patient population. Under the direction of the Boutique supervisor, and as a member of this team, the Boutique Specialist compliments the program by coordinating the scheduling, insurance authorization and billing for patients receiving medical equipment from the Cingari Family Boutique. Excellent teamwork, verbal and written communication, collaboration and patient-centered care are required

Responsibilities

  • 1. Maintain coordination of patient scheduling, billing, and insurance authorizations within the boutique.
  • 2. Maintain compliance with Yale-New Haven Hospital mandatory training.
  • 3. Required to demonstrate ability to learn and accurately apply scheduling standards to patient population.
  • 4. Required to cross cover team members when appropriate.
  • 5. Ability to triage high call volume.
  • 6. Ability to accurately document patient benefits and conversations within patients? within the patient?s medical record.
  • 7. 7 Continuously perform the following tasks accurately and independently: 7.1 Patient coordination responsibilities including: 7.1.1 Quality review of incoming prescriptions to assure accuracy 7.1.2 Scheduling of 75% of boutique visit either by phone or in person encounters 7.1.3 Accurate billing for medical equipment within 5 business days of patients encounter 7.1.4 Successfully checking in and out of patients for their scheduled visits 7.1.5 Assuring verification of demographic of patients are appropriate at time of check in 7.1.6 Scanning in appropriate medical documentation to patients encounter 7.1.7 Appropriate schedule maintenance of the clinical schedule within the boutique 7.1.8 Collecting benefits from patients insurances 7.1.9 Clinical chart prep for boutique clinicians 7.1.10 Effectively communicating benefits to patients 7.1.11 Confirms appointments by phone for department 7.1.12 Facilitate referrals, as needed
  • 8. Other relevant tasks may be assigned by department leadership as needed
  • 9.   • 10. 10 The boutique coordinator will be the interface to assure patients can access boutique services in a timely manner. The coordinator will also need to demonstrate the following: 10.1 Ability to proactively anticipate their workload and plan accordingly, switching easily from one task to another. 10.2 Identification of new ideas and methods for saving resources and accomplishing work most effectively and efficiently. 10.3 Learning from past experiences and ability to use this knowledge for future decision making. 10.4 Proactively consider and use a variety of approaches and interventions to complete tasks or achieve goals. 10.5 Proactively gets involved in projects without being asked or instructed to do so. 10.6 Follows through consistently on commitments and project closure. 10.7 Works well independently. 10.8 Exhibits strong organizational skills in relation to both autonomy and collaboration with other professionals. 10.9 Ability to communicate effectively with members of the boutique team to independently resolve patient care issues.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High School, Associate degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

One year of direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Previously medical billing experience highly desired.

Excellent communications, interpersonal, team, and organizational skills required. PC proficiency required. Ability to read computer screens, forms and other documents. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to write clearly and legibly. Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment. Strong attention to detail. Must possess the ability to multi-task and problem solve on the spot. Excellent telephone etiquette. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.
