Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Head Women's Basketball Coach, the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach/Operations will aid with on court training, competition preparation, and in-game coaching of the Women's Basketball Team, but is not a designated off-campus recruiter. In addition, the incumbent will assist with all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the program. This position will also operate under university regulations and America East Conference & NCAA bylaws.
NCAA Compliance: Knowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA rules, regulations, bylaws, constitutions and related university rules, regulations and policies.
Essential Functions:
Coaching Activities: This function finds the incumbent providing a full array of services related to the women's basketball team. By way of illustration and not limitation, this function:
-Assist in organizing, preparing and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition preparation.
-Assist with the recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with America East & NCAA regulations. This position is not a designated off-campus recruiter.
-Assist with player development. Under the supervision of the Head Coach, develop training methods to improve the overall skill development of players both in/out of season.
-Coordinate the administration of the day-to-day operation of the program.
-Coordinate & manage team travel including hotel, transportation (bus/airfare), meals.
-Secure practice times including obtaining scheduled practice & walk-through times at host institutions for all away competitions.
-Oversee video exchange with opposing teams.
-Assist with game scouting of opponents and preparation of game plan.
-Promote a program culture of academic success and degree progress, and support The Learning Center's initiatives in monitoring and advising the program's student-athletes.
-Initiates and coordinates team community service initiatives.
-Maintain current health care certifications. (First Aid, CPR/AED).
Additional Functions:
-Performs other duties as assigned.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree required
-A minimum of two years' coaching experience at the high school/competitive club/college level or collegiate playing experience.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students required.
-Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty.
-Knowledge of applicable team or individual sport and its playing rule.
-Must possess the ability to foster a cooperative environment.
-Must be able to organize and coordinate.
-Must have knowledge of NCAA rules.
-Must have the ability to understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
-Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
-Computer proficiency.
-Valid driver's license.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's Degree preferred.
Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the rate for this position is $40,000. (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
