Under the supervision of the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Manager, this position is accountable for the effective planning, development and execution of plant level capital projects and improvement initiatives to improve safety systems, manufacturing processes, maintenance services and physical facilities.

What does a Project Engineer do?

  • Provides project support for safe and successful implementation of plant capital project plan
  • Analyzes and implements manufacturing process improvements.
  • Supports Plant, Divisional, and corporate proposed efforts, and driving equipment reliability.
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities through the use of Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Interfaces with Plant Staff, Corporate Engineering, Customers, New Product Development, and outside contractors.
  • Responsible for providing direction and leadership to maintenance personnel and contractors as required for safe and successful project implementation.
  • Serves as technical Subject Matter Expert for plant maintenance group as necessary.
  • Support plant safety systems by driving safety improvements and serving as a member of plant safety teams.
  • Responsible for developing scope and budget for small scale capital projects

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a BS in Engineering (Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • Targeted 3+ years manufacturing engineering experience
  • Possess strong leadership, communication, project management and computer skills (including SAP, CAD, and Microsoft Office Suite).

About the Location (Hilliard OH)

Our Hilliard Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs 100+ people across multiple shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of acoustical ceiling tile. The Hilliard plant prides itself in placing high priority on safety, quality and exceeding customer expectations.
