Lead Park Maintenance Worker - Full Time


Hourly Range: $25.11 - $37.65

Job Summary -


Responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a park unit to ensure quality facilities and amenities and a safe environment; preserve and enhance department assets; ensure quality service and product delivery.



Job Responsibilities -



  • Marina Maintenance / Winter Operations - Ensure Marina and all outbuildings are in working order. This includes but it not limited to cleaning, minor fixes of infrastructure, opening and closing duties of marina operations, gas dock operation, rental set up, building maintenance, graffiti removal.




  • Personnel management - Participate in and recommend hiring of seasonal park operations staff & provide daily supervision including job assignments, performance appraisals, workforce development, and establishing priorities to ensure the success of the Park Unit and the Department's strategies.


  • Turf, Parking Lot, Grounds Maintenance - Maintain Park roadways, drives, parking lots, and pathways to include, but not limited to, cold patching, line striping, cleaning catch basins, snow removal, and salting. Maintain turf and grounds to a parks standard.




  • Equipment Maintenance - Inspect and maintain all equipment and tools related to the performance of job duties.


  • Administrative Duties - Maintain Logs, ensure relevant safety codes and regulations are met, process work orders, support in inventory and purchasing processes.




  • Special Assignments and Projects - Participate in special project teams, community outreach efforts and other duties as assigned.



Required Education, License/Certification and Experience -



  • Current resident of WI.
  • Valid Driver's License required and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • One (1) year or more of work experience in Grounds, Landcapre, or Park Maintenance required.
  • At least 6 months of supervisory experience preferred/not required--Any Parks/Maintenance-related area.



License -



  • Cat. 3.0 pesticide certification must be obtained within 6 months
  • Class "B" CDL must be obtained within 6 months, Class "A" preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR must be obtained within 6 months



Preferred -


Associate's Degree preferred (Park & Rec, Horticulture, Agronomy, Turf Management)



Note: THE ORIGINAL EXAMINATION is open to qualified current residents of the state of Wisconsin at the time of application. The selection process will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral, or performance tests, or other assessment methods.
