Overview
The Benefits Specialist provides assistance in the utilization and understanding of benefits plans, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability and general 401(k) plans. Serves as a resource for employee benefits information and processes, which may include resolving issues escalated from the tier 1 level call center, resolving claim issues with applicable vendor, and support of annual benefits enrollment. This role also ensures plans and programs are in alignment with Concentra's business objectives and overall Orange Book philosophy.
Responsibilities
* Assists employees in resolving escalated benefits or 401(k) issues in an effective, customer focus and timely manner. This may include correcting data, processing forms, and coding information into a database in accordance with system policies and regulations. * Reviews daily, weekly and monthly reports to address errors or control/reconciliation needs. * Process Garnishments/Medical Orders as well as complete employer portion of Medicare form. * Works with HR Admin vendor (currently Businessolver (BSC)) regarding escalations. * Partners with legal regarding benefit subpoenas. * Partners with LOA vendor (MetLife) as needed regarding leave administration, temporary modified duty, return to work and ADA process. * Mail/Return Mail processing. * Ensure compliance to retirement plan rules and regulations; and encourage employees to save for retirement. * Supports strong relationship with vendors, brokers and/or consultants. * Proactive in anticipating changes and needs of the marketplace, company, and colleagues to ensure the benefit program remains competitive and financially sustainable. * Accountable for staying abreast of and compliant with all government regulations. * Support research, implementation, and communications for the benefits piece of any acquisition, merger, or joint venture. * Understand the HR/Payroll system and work with internal departments to drive efficiencies. * Supporting the mission and direction of Concentra. * Cross-train with Benefits Analyst, as needed. * Other benefits related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education Level: Associate Degree Major: HR, Finance, Accounting or related field of study Degree must be from an accredited college or university. Education Details: * Some college courses from an accredited college or university or equivalent education and experience * In lieu of higher education, the ratio is 1:1 meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice versa * Associate degree preferred Certifications and/or Licenses: * Preferred: SHRM Certified Professional or CEBS certification or other benefits related credentials Experience in lieu of required education is acceptable: Yes Continuing education is required to maintain license and to perform job: No Job-Related Experience: Customarily has at least the following experience: 3 years * Customarily has at least three (3) years of experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
