Primary Purpose: Responsible for the assessment of women's health education needs, presentation of appropriate educational materials, and evaluation of program activities to ensure a quality women's health education program. Responsibilities: 1. Assists with the evaluation of patient educational needs. Presents information and materials to educate target group to promote health awareness and good health practices. 2. Reviews medical records, schedules appointments and enters charges, performing other related clinical duties as necessary. 3. Assesses patient's level of understanding and evaluates need for further instruction. Documents translation and education activities as indicated. 4. Assists with health education events by providing educational training and public speaking on women's health topics to promote public awareness and good health practices. 5. Investigates, communicates and mediates medical and other patient concerns to proper persons. Provides emotional support to clients as indicated. 6. Maintains a positive working relationship with management, vendors, community agencies, schools, other health educators and healthcare personnel to ensure open communication within the health community. 7. Evaluates and updates literature and materials periodically to ensure that current information is disseminated to patients and staff. 8. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of medicine and healthcare for the assigned patient population by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. 9. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland. 10. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines, that impact medicine and healthcare. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
