We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Vice President of AI to lead and scale our platform infrastructure, ensuring it meets the demands of a growing global user base. This leader will drive the vision, strategy, and execution of technology solutions that provide scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems. The Vice President of AI will collaborate across teams, from product to operations, and partner with other senior leaders to build robust systems that support Teladoc's growth and innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale a high-performing team of engineers and researchers dedicated to developing, operationalizing, and optimizing AI, including robust infrastructure, and scalable AI systems.

  • Define, evangelize, and execute the strategic vision, roadmap, and objectives for AI Engineering, Responsible AI governance, and AI-driven product innovation, aligning closely with Teladoc's broader business and innovation strategies.

  • Oversee and drive the architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization of Teladoc's AI technology platforms, encompassing cloud infrastructure, data and ML/AI pipelines, model deployment, monitoring frameworks, and backend integrations.

  • Lead initiatives in Generative AI (GenAI), leveraging state-of-the-art models and techniques to drive new product capabilities, personalization, and intelligent automation across the Teladoc ecosystem.

  • Establish and operate a cutting-edge AI Lab focused on research and development, experimentation, rapid prototyping, and technology incubation to accelerate innovation and advance Teladoc's position as a digital health leader.

  • Lead Responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance, ethical considerations, fairness, transparency, and explainability across all AI initiatives, driving organizational maturity and best practices.

  • Actively evangelize AI-driven transformation internally and externally, driving widespread adoption of AI products, promoting a data-driven culture, and orchestrating Teladoc's ascent on the AI maturity curve.

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain exceptional AI talent, cultivating a culture of innovation, continuous learning, technical rigor, and collaboration.

  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Security, Clinical, Business Operations) to ensure alignment and integration of AI strategies with organizational goals.

  • Continuously evaluate emerging industry trends and novel AI technologies, positioning Teladoc at the forefront of AI and digital health innovation, while influencing strategic decisions to capture future market opportunities.

  • Drive optimization and operational efficiency across AI lifecycle management, resource allocation, infrastructure scalability, and project execution timelines.

Qualifications Expected for Position

  • PhD preferred in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related quantitative fields; Master's degree required at a minimum.

  • 10+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, software development, or related fields, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles directly managing large-scale engineering and AI teams.

  • Proven track record of delivering AI-driven products and platforms, demonstrating measurable business impact and successful scaling of AI operations.

  • Deep technical expertise in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), ML/AI frameworks, and modern software engineering best practices (CI/CD, agile development, DevOps).

  • Strong understanding of AI model lifecycle management, responsible AI frameworks, regulatory compliance, and ethical standards.

  • Excellent communication, strategic leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights and strategies for diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully evangelizing and driving organizational adoption of AI and advanced technologies.

  • Industry experience in healthcare, digital health, telemedicine, or related sectors highly desirable.

  • Strategic thinker with deep technical acumen, business intuition, and a proactive mindset in rapidly evolving technological environments.

The base salary range for this position is$250,000 - $350,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here:Teladoc Health Benefits 2025.Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
