General Purpose: Under general direction, assist in the day-to-day support of Sparrow Health System's desktop environments, both physical and virtual. Provide information technology support to all SHS associates with related issues. Assist in the deployment and on-going maintenance of various PC operating systems. Lead on end client planning and configuration for Sparrow EMR deployments and for Sparrow Community Connect deployments. Provide general oversight for standard department processes such as ticket triage efforts, asset life cycle, and coordinating service provider programs. - Responsible for managing the Printer and CSG ticket incident queues which include resolving, assigning, and triaging tickets through all levels of support including phones and on-site support.
- Packaging / Sequencing of SCCM and Citrix published applications utilizing Microsoft App-V.
- Determine application packaging effort/cost for project planning and execution.
- Complete the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Citrix.
- Utilizing systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of Citrix.
- Actively participate in technical review meetings to understand business requirements, strategy and delivery methodology for various initiatives.
- Lead evaluation, planning and deployment of sites for EMR roll outs and upgrades.
- Execute projects within time and budget parameters to a successful completion.
- Ensure desktop and laptops computers connect seamlessly with the network environment, including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.
- Diagnose and quickly resolve a wide range of hardware, application and networking problems to help minimize downtime.
- Assist in identifying, documenting and training staff on new "tips and tricks" for the department incident management knowledge base.
Job Requirements
General Requirements |
Current industry certifications in critical areas such as application packaging and systems management or system administration. Certifications in Microsoft, Comptia A+ Security + or Net +, Citrix, VMware, preferred Self Maintainer certifications with PC manufacturers or Printer/MFP manufacturers. Experience with operating system and/or application virtualization technologies (VMWare, Microsoft Virtual PC...) preferred |
Work Experience |
Three or more years deploying and maintaining PC desktop/laptop computers. Broad experience using and supporting Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Desktop operating systems: Windows 7, Windows 8, Embedded operating systems, virtual desktops (XenDesktop/VMware View) etc. Must be familiar with network architecture and have hands-on experience with large, complex local area networks. Must understand concepts of disk imaging technology. Experience with application packaging and deployment technologies such as Admin Studio Experience with MS Active Directory and with print server technologies. |
Education |
Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or 3 years experience in desktop support. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
Broad experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Ability to work extended hours on short notice. Ability to quickly learn new software and technologies. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
