Maintenance Technician III - Midnights

Monday - Wednesday and every other Thursday 5:00pm - 5:00am

The hourly wage for this position is $36.51 to $37.97 plus $1/hour shift dif.

This highly visible position is located at our Ridgefield, WA Facility.

What you'll do:

This position will be responsible for providing support to the management team by performing and assisting in preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on manufacturing, packaging, and/or facilities equipment. This role also directs the technical activities of other Maintenance

Essential Functions:

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety protocols, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ensure all tasks comply with food safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist and direct Maintenance Technicians to ensure all scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs are completed effectively.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, and Planning Department in creating work schedules as needed.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment, either individually or with other Maintenance Technicians.
  • Monitor and manage the activities, breaks, and lunches of other Maintenance Technicians.
  • Provide on-the-job training for Maintenance Technicians.
  • Perform machinery and mechanical equipment repairs and maintenance using schematics, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, utilizing hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring, and testing instruments. This includes motors, pumps, pneumatics, conveyor systems, production machines, and equipment.
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance methods, equipment performance, and quality to supervisors or managers.
  • Assist controls technicians or engineers with installing, utilizing, and repairing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), process control systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), servos, motors, and actuators.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and safety/environmental regulations.
  • Ensure proper operation of boilers, chillers, compressors, air handling units, wastewater treatment systems, and other facility equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the spare parts inventory.
  • Observe processing and packaging machines in operation, troubleshoot problems, and determine root causes.
  • Direct external contractors/vendors performing building maintenance, such as minor plumbing and electrical wiring.
  • Complete service, repair, and other records as required.
  • Occasionally operate forklifts, scissor lifts, or pallet jacks to assist in loading and moving materials and products.
  • Operate production machinery as needed to ensure proper function of equipment.
  • Document maintenance tasks in logbooks and email pass-downs.
  • Conduct lead-to-lead pass down meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Assist in maintaining the spare parts inventory.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Assist in Quality investigations.

What you'll need:

  • High School diploma or GED required. An Associate's degree and State electrician license is preferred.
  • More than 5 years Maintenance experience in a Manufacturing Environment required.
  • High-level troubleshooting ability, self-motivation, and the ability to work well with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and supervision.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of general confectionary processing a plus.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, process control systems, VFDs, servos, motors, and actuators.
  • Proficiency in pneumatics, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work additional shifts as required.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to detect problems, perform repairs, and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to write coherent, concise, and comprehensive work instructions, reports, and manuals.
  • Ability to enter data into the Preventive Maintenance program.
  • Ability to connect laptops to PLCs and/or process controllers for troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of tools, with knowledge and ability to use machine shop equipment preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of basic office computer skills such as MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. SAP PM is a plus.
  • Forklift and Scissor Lift certification.
  • Ability to maintain punctuality and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Ability to cross train and work at either manufacturing or packaging plants.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and GMP and cleanroom attire; perform moderate physical activity, requiring standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day and up to twelve (12) hours per shift and be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and be able to perform work onsite and be comfortable in a light industrial environment, including some exposure to non-toxic dust.
