Position Summary

Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Lone Star College System accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times online during the academic year. As a rule, adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.

Job Functions

  1. Teaches Music courses at a variety of times and locations; provides interactive course instruction and prepares exams and assignments.
    Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner.

  2. Develops and follows a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.

  3. Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communicaiton, or other appropriate methods.
     

  4. Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.

  5. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
     

  6. Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
     

  7. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • MA in Music (Master of Arts in Music), MM (Master of Music), MM in Education (Master of Music in Education). MME (Master of Music Education), or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Music

  • Mastery of course content.
     
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary

$41.75 per contact hour.
