DNV Global Energy Concepts is seeking a Wind Project Engineer â?? Wind Energy Analyst for our Lowell, Massachusetts, office. In this role you will work in a team environment to analyze wind resource and other data and develop energy estimates for commercial wind energy projects.

Responsibilities

- Analyze meteorological data
â?
- Visit project sites and long-term reference locations to evaluate measurement equipment, terrain, and land use
â?
- Conduct wind flow modeling studies (flow over terrain & wake loss modeling)
â?
- Estimate wind project output using on-site and off-site wind data and wind turbine performance characteristics
â?
- Evaluate energy production, estimate technical losses, and conduct statistical uncertainty analyses
â?
- Write detailed technical reports that â??tell the storyâ? of the data evaluation and findings
â?
- Interact directly with clients, including educating clients regarding methods and results, presenting a professional company image to clients by email, phone, and in person, and identifying where additional services may be offered
â?
- Participate in research projects, develop creative analytical solutions and apply problem-solving skills efficiently, while adhering to standards where applicable
â?
- Perform other tasks in support of the companyâ??s consulting work such as but not limited to designing turbine layouts, developing photo simulations, selecting appropriate turbine models, and reviewing energy assessments conducted by other parties
Qualifications
' EDUCATION ''' AND ''' EXPERIENCE:'

- College degree in engineering or atmospheric science (preferred) or other technical field required.
Masters degree preferred. â?
- Minimum of three years of practical, related experience, preferably in the wind energy industry.
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES::
â?
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities required
â?
- Interest and experience working in a collaborative environment; ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively and professionally with diverse people
â?
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
â?
- Familiarity with industry software (WAsP, Windfarm, WindPRO) and wind resource assessment preferred
â?
- Ability to multi-task, adapt and perform in a fast-paced environment
â?
- Proficiency in MS Office programs (principally Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
â?
- Familiarity with remote sensing technology for wind measurement (sodar, lidar) preferred
â?
- Familiarity with CFD wind modeling a plus
â?
- MATLAB , Visual Basic programming, SQL and/or Access database development experience a plus
â?
- Proposal writing and consulting background a plus
â?
- Familiarity with mapping software and concepts a plus
' PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:'

- Regular (up to approximately 25% of work time) domestic and international travel to other company office locations, site locations, client offices, and conferences required
â?
- Occasional work outdoors in harsh conditions including but not limited to climbing stairs and ladders to ascend wind turbines, looking up to view towers, traveling by car up to six hours and walking on uneven terrain
