Description

Basic Purpose

This role will drive Sustainability vision development and its execution for Georgia-Pacific's North American Consumer Products business. GP's consumer product business comprises of well known brands like Quilted Northern®, Angel Soft®, Brawny®, Sparkle®, and Vanity Fair®.

It also includes Dixie® brand of disposable cups, plates and cutlery. Vice President - Sustainability will provide leadership in setting the long term Sustainability vision for the business balancing Social, Environmental and Economic dimensions. This position will work closely with the GP's Corporate Sustainability Office, various business and functional teams, and external stakeholders (customers, NGOs, Trade organizations etc. ) to drive the agenda as a collaborative effort. Position reports to Vice President - Innovation, Insights and Marketing Services.

Responsibilities:

* Establish a holistic Sustainability vision for the business that balances all aspects of Sustainability - Social, Environmental and Economic. * Drive Sustainability agenda based on consumer insights, customer/market drivers and grounded in company's business strategy. * Working closely with the Sales team be the key knowledge interface between the customers and the company on sustainability matters. Gather information on customer strategies and initiatives and synthesize them into key drivers that inform company's sustainability agenda. * Educate business teams and integrate sustainability lenses into business strategies and initiatives. * Frame-up business's position on key sustainability drivers (CFP, energy, water, fiber sourcing, waste etc. ) and outline it's impact on retail business and categories. Develop business points of view in key areas like Carbon Footprint Labeling, LCA, 3rdparty product certifications etc. * Help the business establish sustainability driven product, packaging, supply chain and manufacturing programs

* Co-ordinate, monitor and report out progress of all sustainability driven initiatives to the business

* Implement internal and external communication strategies to clearly communicate our sustainability position

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities/Experiences

* Related Bachelor's and Master's degrees required. Relevant accreditations and professional certifications preferred.

Must have a minimum of 12 years experience with the following:

* Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods and/or Retail business in sales, marketing, PR, customer solutions, CSR or related functions. * Must understand Sustainability related consumers, customer and market insights and trends and its strategic and tactical implications. * Leadership experience in profitably driving environmental sustainability initiatives and programs from the business side. Experience in working with eNGOs and 3rdparties. * Strong economic thinking, financial acumen and entrepreneurship skills required. * High levels of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy are a must. Strong communication skills including writing and public speaking. * Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, organizational, and management skills. * Demonstrated personal and professional effectiveness in leading a large cross-functional initiative across a complex and matrixed organization.
