We are currently searching for a Research Scientist to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

This opportunity is a permanent, full-time position with Lockheed Martin-MSD and it is on-site at NIH in Bethesda, MD.

Duties and Responsibilities:

' Provide expertise in molecular virology including the replication of viruses in vitro and in vivo. This analysis could include detailed examination of the many steps in the replication of a virus in a cell including membrane penetration, replication, and assembly. ' Provide expertise in the pathogenesis of viruses in animals including non-human primates. Such studies can include a detailed analysis of the pathology of the virus in target organs. Quantization of virus replication and cellular and humoral immune response. ' Generate immunotherapeutic or immunoprophylactic means to treat or prevent virus infection. This can include the generation of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, live attenuated virus vaccines, or other types of virus vaccines. Evaluating the effectiveness of these agents in vitro and in vivo. ' This candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the lab. Standard Job Description Performs scientific experiments, investigations, observations and related research studies into the nature and operation of natural phenomena in a particular field, using the scientific methods. Develops theories for understanding, characterizing and organizing natural phenomena into a systematic and meaningful pattern for the benefit of project advancement and emerging technologies.

May participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications. May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts. Security Clearance None

Typical Minimums Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
