Unit Description: Sodexo is seeking a Sustainability Specialist to support its North America sustainability programs focusing on the environment, health and wellness, and local community development. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our efforts to measure our sustainability performance at corporate sites, client sites, in our logistics and eventually at the farm and factory level. This position supports our move towards more robust measurement of our performance and will report to the Director-Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Performance.
This position is located at our Gaithersburg, MD headquarters. This role includes assisting in the strategic planning and evaluation of the sustainability performance measurement program, conducting its programs and meetings, and developing the relationships and systems necessary to gather, analyze and communicate the necessary data.
The specialist will also conduct research and analysis identifying and recommending opportunities for improvements and new programs. In addition, the specialist will maintain the knowledge base for the program, support virtual and in-person training events, and prepare reports on progress as well as play a key role in the preparation of our annual CSR report.
The successful candidate should have:
? Experience in measuring and evaluating sustainability performance with a demonstrated familiarity with contemporary environmental, social and economic concerns such as global climate change and its connections to facilities management and agriculture. ? Familiarity with key CSR and sustainability associations and prominent leaders and experts in the field. ? A strong interest in identifying and promoting eco-efficiencies in food & facility management operations. ? A collaborative and dynamic work style, including being a good public speaker. S/he should be comfortable communicating with a diverse set of stakeholders and remote team members. ? Knowledge of and/or experience with the Global Reporting Initiative, Carbon Disclosure Project, and the World Resources Institute GHG protocol. ? Excellent attention to detail and solid drafting skills are required. ? A proven track record of being a self starter, creative problem solver and the ability to lead others. ? Excellent quantitative skills as well as experience using Excel, Sequel and/or other database programs (preferred). ? Language skills including the ability to read Spanish and/or French for review and comment on initiatives from other SDX affiliates received through Sodexo's best practices database (preferred).
Job Description:
Position Summary: Supports the implementation of Sodexo's internal and external

programs and events and prepares reports. Creates presentations about key
sustainability topics and Sodexo's effort. Assists in management training
events. Manages the daily relationships with clients, trade associations and NGO
communities.
Basic Education Requirement: Bachelors Degree
Basic Management / Supervisory Experience (Yrs): 2 years of professional
experience in sustainable business, corporate social responsibility, green
building or sustainable food systems either in a business or nonprofit setting
