General Job Description:

Entry-level position - Under supervision and independently, conducts fieldwork, analysis, and technical report preparation to support biological surveys and management plans.

This position is temporary and will end December 20,
2009) Specific Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, or related field with one to three years of experience conducting fieldwork and/or environmental report preparation. Ability to work both in the field, under stressful conditions, and professional office settings.

Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), GIS and GPS, federal environmental legislation (e. g. ESA, NEPA , etc. ). Military experience desirable. Candidate must have a valid Deer Aging Number issued by the New York Department of the Environment and Conservation

Desirables:.

Experience in Northeastern environments and/or on military installations. Experience in conducting forest inventory and/or vegetation sampling. Experience in Whitetail Deer biology and aging techniques. Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and use of software (ArcGIS, etc. ) Experience applying GIS and database technology to develop and manage spatially-explicit research. Experience with ecological modeling and remote sensing. Military experience a plus.

Desirable Certifications:

Minimum Level of Education:

BA/BS from an accredited college or university. Ecology, natural resource management or related science field Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, natural resource management or related science field AND 1-year experience related to natural resource measures and monitoring, OR, Master's degree in biology, ecology, natural resource management or related science field.
